    Feng shui greetings to all!  Many thanks to you for visiting my website.  Here at last is the belated newsletter.  Your patience is appreciated and I apologize for the delay.  After A Deadly Arrangement came out on September 5, 2001, I wasn't quite prepared for the events that followed.  Certainly none of us were prepared for the 9/11 attacks, which shook us with the intensity of massive earthquakes, the aftershocks still being felt by us all.  If we'd been asleep before 9/11, we slumber no more.

 

In the six months following 9/11, I did manage to adjust to changes, particularly in the area of travel.  The book tour wasn't quite as carefree as those in the past and the general atmosphere at various events more subdued.  It was difficult to maintain an upbeat, cheerful attitude, which at times even felt uncomfortably artificial.  Then to enthusiasm for the writing of book 3 in the series was dampened.  However, in spite of the emotional shifts, my personal belief in feng shui and the natural power of ch'i—the energy that surrounds all and everything—emerged stronger than ever.  Without the knowledge of feng shui and the benefits derived from simple applications, and if I hadn't known that positive power is always available, I most likely would have succumbed to negative urges and cancelled the tour and further, not met the March 1, 2002 deadline for book 3.  But hey, feng shui works!

 

While traveling across the country, I kept a 10mm faceted crystal on a 9" red cord either in my pocket, or on the passenger seat of the rental cars, or on the nightstand beside the bed in hotels, motels, and the homes of friends and family.  Wherever they are located, these lovely objects attract good ch'i, the power heightened when imprinted verbally and visually by one's intentions.  Once home and at the computer, I hung another crystal, this one 30mm, above the desk to lift and maintain creative energy.  Behind the desk chair, I positioned a black silk fan featuring an undulating green dragon.  Black signifies career; green represents familial support and good mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.  The fan itself symbolizes motion, action, the "fanning" of energy necessary to complete a task.  Designed To Kill, the 3rd book in the series, went out the door in time for the deadline.

 

At about the same time, the book jacket and typeset pages for book 2, Positioned To Die, arrived.  The book, set in Georgetown and the Washington, D.C. metro area will be available July 2, 2002.  The book jacket and a short synopsis are now on the website as you may have already noticed.

 

Speaking of websites, I discovered one yesterday that is chockfull of feng shui information.  It is the site of feng shui practitioner Gabrielle Alizay.  While surfing the web I came upon it and was surprised and delighted to see that she includes A Deadly Arrangement with other feng shui books.  Now, this doesn't mean that my books have to be on a site before I'll recommend it!  No, I intend to post the web addresses of sites that may be useful to all, beginning with that of Gabrielle Alizay.  www.homepeace.com

 

For those of you in and around San Jose, California, I shall be speaking at the Cambrian Library on May 8th, 2002, at 7 p.m.  In April, planning the summer tour for Positioned To Die will begin.  A schedule will be posted on the website.  Some bookstore signings may also include a feng shui workshop.  If any of you know of bookstores or libraries that might be interested in hosting either or both, please contact me at deniseo@osbornemgt.com and I will follow up.  Until I can bring a publicist on board, I shall be wearing that hat myself.

 

If all goes according to plan, the April newsletter will feature an interview with a working feng shui practitioner.  And certainly, I'll provide feng shui information that has been beneficial to me as a writer.  Further, you will find web and book recommendations.
