SUMMER 2006

Summer greetings to all from the Heartland.  Along with work on a new Feng Shui mystery, I’m getting ready to launch “Feng Shui Boutique”.  The online shop will feature popular items used to enhance and stimulate the energy in your home and business.  I will let you know when we are up and running.  At this point, we are building inventory.  Ideas for items you would like to see are always welcome (Reply with “IDEAS” in the subject line).

NEW CAR KIT:  fellow Feng Shui practitioner Gabrielle Alizay, who lives and works in Santa Cruz, California, has put together Feng Shui car kits.  Gabrielle is the author of Feng Shui For The Rest Of Us, which I must say is one of the best books on the subject to come out in years.  You may purchase the car kit through the following website:

NEW MAGAZINE:  this is fabulous news…even as I write this, there are lots of Feng Shui practitioners and enthusiasts busy putting together a long-awaited magazine called FENG SHUI LIFE.  I urge everyone to go immediately to their website and buy a subscription.  I’ve been told that the first issue will be out in November.  Also, I may be a contributor—I’ll find out soon if they want to publish a serial Feng Shui mystery featuring our intrepid Feng Shui practitioner/sleuth Salome Waterhouse.  Please go to this website:

MEET FENG SHUI PRACTITIONER TRACI BRAY:

As a member of the Heartland Chapter of the International Feng Shui Guild, I have gotten to know some exceptional practitioners, among them, Traci Bray.  A native Iowan, who for years has been a professional psychic and a medium, Traci first learned of Feng Shui through Karen Kingston’s popular book, Creating Sacred Space With Feng Shui.  After more study and research, she found herself to be well-suited to a particular branch of Feng Shui and space clearing termed “interior alignment”.  She went on to study with Denise Linn and Laurie Bornstein, two of the best and most recognized practitioners in this field.

Traci explained to me the focus of interior alignment, which also uses the octagonal Bagua as a template to determine positions of life situations (i.e., fame, prosperity, relationships, etc.—remember, you’ll find the Bagua at the beginning of each of my four Feng Shui mysteries).

“Interior alignment begins with an energetic space clearing.  First the client and I determine what needs to go.  Then the client sets intentions for the space.

“I use a variety of tools depending on the client’s particular needs and what they are comfortable with.  My repertoire includes fresh flowers, scent, water, candles; smudge sticks, Tibetan singing bowls, among others. My intuition often tells me which element resonates to the client.”

Traci’s academic credentials include a B.S. in Family Services and a Master’s in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.   Like me, she believes law enforcement personnel could certainly benefit from the services of Feng Shui professionals both out in the field and in their offices, adding that she doesn’t think this will happen any time soon.   However, she has many police and fire fighter friends who haven’t hesitated to ask for her help as both a practitioner and psychic every now and again.  Film producer, Justine Picardie, included Traci in a BBC documentary about mediums.  Further, Traci participated in the Veritas program at the University of Arizona run by Dr. Gary Schwartz.  We can easily imagine Traci achieving the status of fellow participants Allison DuBois, on whom the TV show Medium is based, and television medium John Edwards.

Our Heartland Chapter of IFSG has certainly benefited from Traci’s keen interest in community services.  Through her efforts we have, as a group, done consultations at a local fire station and the broad-based, non-denominational Unity Temple on the Plaza in Kansas City, MO.

During the course of the afternoon Traci graciously set aside for this newsletter, she said something that has stuck with me and which seems well-suited for all of us to consider:

          “All thought is prayer.”
